last days of as artist in residence

Had agreat day in the gallery today. Abigale box came in with friends from Camberwell.

Met May Wei fashion designer who wants to interview me and photo work for a magazine? she also keen to do a show in Berlin with me? Exciting...

Thanks to everyone who has supported me through out the year and to the new friendships that have grown during this time.
studio1.1 have asked me to carry on going into the Gallery on a Mon & Tue which I am more than happy to do and thanks to Michael & Keran for their support and friendship.
I am taking commissions similar to this one inspired by Betty Boop. £250.00 and inspired by your favorite cartoon figure. Each one is uniquely different and hand made.
If you missed this event there will be two new pieces in Act Converter at studio1.1 their next show.
Also have a show to be confirmed called 'Wish You Were Here' so watch this space...

Boutique Hook Joshua Raffell

Artist in residence 2011 - Joshua Raffell

"I pleased to announce that studio1.1 have asked me to carry on at the gallery on Mon & Tue. To create and show work"

BOUTIQUE HOOK
6th - 14th January 2012

studio1.1 2011 artist-in-residence will end his tenure with a pop-up exhibition showcasing work made during the year, satirically echoing the retail opportunities prevalent in the most fashionable street in London (sic(k)). In an attack on E2 modishness, there will also be a sale of secondhand books.

POP UP
11th - 15th May 2011, 12-6pm

On most Mondays and Tuesdays once an exhibition has opened in the gallery, Joshua is on hand to use the space as his open studio, working and inviting visitors to watch him at work. For the next few days there will be an extension of that project, when he'll be in the gallery from Wednesday to Sunday, during opening hours, with a wider selection of work; a pop-up show.

Joshua’s work crosses and re-crosses boundaries of public and private, and forms a perfect counterpart to our position in/outside the shifting art world/market where what is a dissenting voice one minute becomes a designated cutting-edge must-have commodity the next.

This can be an uncomfortable place and Josh recognises that we must all bear responsibility for wherever we situate ourselves along the spectrum of comfort and outrage. That Josh’s work, beautifully crafted and defiantly object- and outrage-based, can simultaneously offend and delight the same sensibility at the same time seemed to us a perfect choice for our Artist in Residence 2011.
